AEROFLIPHY

The AEROFLIPHY symposium addresses all aspects of aerodynamics relevant to aircrafts and UAVs, missiles and projectiles, launchers, and re-entry vehicles. Aero-acoustics will be also examined for aeronautical applications with a special focus on landing and take-off flight phases of aircraft. Topics will deal with both external and internal flows since aerodynamics and aero-acoustics are the main concern of the symposium.

 

Papers will preferentially address at least one of the following three approaches: physical understanding, theoretical analysis, and/or the development of control technologies and control methodologies applied to aeronautical or space flows.

Authors are encouraged to submit papers in the fields of:

Airships, balloons, lighter than air

AEROST

The AEROST symposium will cover the innovations and promising developments in the field of Lighter Than Air (LTA) aircrafts.

Papers are solicited in the fields of:

  • Improvements of weather observation and forecasts as a game changer for aerostat applications,
  • innovative Guidance Control and Navigation for Aerostats,
  • new materials for fabrics, ropes and structures and their application to aerostat design
  • virtual prototyping and dynamic simulation for aerostats,
  • energy management and use of renewable energy – Use of solar energy,
  • electric propulsion for aerostat applications,
  • innovative hybrid design Aerostat / Aerodyne,
  • HAPS (High Altitude Pseudo Satellites)
  • Hydrogen management for buoyancy and/or fuel – Onboard hydrogen regeneration to offset leakage,

CFDMPS

This symposium CFDMPS will welcome communications about CFD and Multi-Physics simulations:

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in continuous regime and rarefied atmosphere,
  • aeroelastic simulation,
  • acoustics,
  • multi-phase simulation (VOF, spray, phase change, …),
  • thermal management (convective, radiative, conductive and ablative),
  • electromagnetic high and low frequency analysis,
  • Multi-Physics coupling of various physics, including structural and multi-disciplinary optimization.

All the modelling methodologies will be covered from systems engineering to advanced 3D simulation, with High Performance Computing and Model Order Reduction.

In terms of aerospace industrial application domains, targets are the use of advanced simulation for:

  • The design and qualification of spacecraft (launchers, satellites, space stations, space telescopes, …),
  • certification of aircrafts (airframes, aeroengines, helicopters …) and strategic vehicles.

New expanding simulation domains are also welcome, like:

  • Multi-Physics topology optimization,
  • spacecraft multi-physics fragmentation prediction,
  • Hydrogen storage, flow and related multi-physics and challenges for aircraft propulsion, etc.

Contributions on computing methods and numerical methods for the CFDMPS topics in aerospace are welcome, e.g.:

  • AI (PINNs, AI derived new turbulence models, surrogate models, optimization etc.)

CLINAV

The session CLINAV will address the progress towards a more sustainable aviation system with a focus on alternative fuels and propulsion systems.

FLOCONIA

Flow control FLOCON is one of the most promising avenues for developing alternative design, control technology and greener solutions to current air vehicles. The theoretical and technological difficulties are however very challenging. The objective of these sessions is to place the various scientific communities involved in front of the operational and technical realities, including today the role of the Artificial Intelligence in the control processes. The event will be a unique opportunity for European and worldwide researchers to showcase their work and to exchange with the most prominent academic and industrial specialists.

NEWSPA

The main objectives of the NEWSPA symposium is to discuss the technical options and organizations enabling the development of future operations in space. They could be associated either to new ICT capabilities, way of working, etc or to new space transportation services based on any launch system, including not only the European Ariane 6, Vega C and their evolutions, but also worldwide solutions.

Papers are solicited in the domains of:

  • New launch systems under development worldwide, from micro (e.g. new initiatives), to small (e.g. Vega C class) and big launchers (e.g. Ariane 6 class),
  • New space transportation elements under development worldwide for payloads requiring orbital transfer, from kick-stages to space-tugs for new in-orbit operations and services, 
  • New space transportation services worldwide for small spacecraft, including ride-shares, piggy-back and motorized dispenser solutions, large constellations deployment, as well as recoverable orbital payloads (e.g. Space Rider, its evolutions and its competitors),

PROPHY

The PROPHY symposium will cover all aspects of Air-Breathing, Rocket and in-space propulsion, spanning from new developments in engines and propellants to modelling and testing. It will also address Electrical Propulsion under all its variants, as well as Advanced Propulsion such as Solar Sails, Tethers, Slingshot…

Topics range from basic research and development to applied studies, using experimental, theoretical and/ or advanced numerical methods, with a special focus on fundamental physical understanding.

Papers are solicited in the fields of:

  • Air-breathing propulsion, including alternative fuels, nano additives
  • supersonic/ hypersonic aircraft propulsion, scramjet/multi- mode ramjet, modified and combined cycles, pulsed detonation engines, propulsion system aspects),

REUSYS

The REUSYS symposium is for all stakeholders involved in the research and development of reusable launch systems. It will review the status of the different activities and projects

Papers are expected in every technical domain associated with reusability:

  • system studies and new missions enabled by reusability,
  • dedicated technologies,
  • technology demonstrators,
  • reusability strategies,
  • space access policy,
  • synergies with aeronautics,
  • development roadmaps,
  • commercial aspects,

SPEXPLO

The main objective of the space exploration symposium SPEXPLO is to prepare for robotic and human exploration of space destinations including Low Earth Orbit, Moon, Mars and beyond. Enabling a sustainable space exploration in an affordable and productive manner is a long-term goal that we will use to shape our near-term activities.

The Space Exploration symposium will focus on scientific research, technologies and technical activities in relation with the EUCASS main symposia (systems, propulsion, flight physics, flight dynamics/GNC, avionics, structures and materials).

The STRMAT symposium covers improvements introduced in aerospace structures and engines through innovative materials, processing technologies, structural design and analysis. It addresses fundamental research domains of aeroelasticity and structural dynamics. Massive introduction of fiber-reinforced organic composites has become a reality and the introduction of other composites is progressing in the engines.

TESTING

This symposium TESTING deals with all the aspects associated to testing in the aerospace domain. Testing occurs in numerous stages of the aircraft life: simulation testing, research and development testing, production and maintenance testing, all being either on ground or in flight or even both, and all being either at component and/or at complete-aircraft level. Over the last decades, testing in aerospace has being continuously optimized for passenger aircraft, space vehicle or defence related programs. Today, testing faces new challenges with future platforms like eVTOL aircraft and drones.

  • New technologies in sensors, data acquisition and telemetry for lab and flight test instrumentation,
  • test methods and means for hydrogen, electric or other new zero emissions energies,

TURBO

The TURBO symposium will cover all turbomachinery related aspects of air-breathing and space propulsion engines.

Of interest are the latest technology developments in gas turbine (turbo-prop, turbo-jet, turbo-fan), ramjet, scramjet, pulsed and detonation engines.

Advances in the analysis, design and testing of compressors, turbines, and pumps, as well as the latest combustion and cooling technologies implemented in the next aero engine generation are of primary interest for this symposium.

Likewise, contributions related to vibration, aero-acoustic and aero-elasticity of the turbomachinery components, and more in general all aero-mechanical turbomachinery aspects of the engine are welcome. Engine testing, measurement techniques and performance monitoring will also be considered.

Contributions in terms of basic and applied research of experimental, numerical and theoretical nature are expected.

UAVFUT

This symposium deals with the possible civil applications of UAVFUT in the future and the specific solutions required for these applications.

In recent years, the number of possibilities offered by UAVs has quickly risen, because of their capability to offer more reliable, safer, or faster solutions. At the same time, technical challenges have been encountered, which form as many hurdles on the way towards an even larger expansion of these applications.

In this symposium, these applications will be addressed, together with the technical challenges and solutions proposed to increase the UAVs capabilities.
